Psalm 9: 10: “For they that know Thy Name will put their trust in Thee; for Thou, O Lord, hast not forsaken them that seek Thee.”

Giselle's Devotional, by Giselle.

What a privilege to know God’s Name. The Lord’s Names, such as given in the early days of the children of Israel, were very seldom spoken, and when mentioned, only with fear and trembling. What a contrast a few thousand years have made.

The Father in His kindness sent us His Son with the Name of Jesus, bearing the meaning, “For it is He Who will save His people from their sin.” Matthew 1: 21. It is “at the Name of Jesus that every knee should bow, of those who are in Heaven, and on earth, and under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ (meaning Anointed One, Messiah) is Lord, to the Glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2: 10.

How important it is for us therefore to take refuge in this Name Jesus, which we have been given for our Salvation and provision during our pilgrimage here on earth. Jesus says of Himself in John 6: 37: “All that the Father gives Me shall come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out.” We can with absolute confidence come to Jesus, and place our trust in Him for all our needs and concerns, both temporal and Eternal, because we have His Word. Jesus also says, “I am the Way, and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me. We see clearly that the Son Jesus was sent to become the only Way through which people could live eternally with God.

Dearest Holy Lord Jesus, I am so thankful that Salvation was made available through the simplicity of calling upon Your Name. Acts 4: 12: says, “There is Salvation in no one else; for there is no other Name under Heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.” Thank You that whether rich or poor, highly educated or a simple homemaker, we can all take Refuge in the Name of Jesus, and be safe. Glory to You alone!
