In the Amplified version of the Bible, this above verse reads, “But He knows the way I take (He has concern for it, appreciates, and pays attention to it); When He has tried me, I shall come forth as refined gold (pure and luminous).
And in Psalm 37: 23: it says that, “The steps of a (righteous) man are directed (ordered) and established by the Lord and He delights in his way (and He busies Himself with his every step).” What very personal, intimate care the Lord has for us. Not many of us like to consider the trials of life as being part of our personal walk and growth in the Lord; the truth be known, most of us would shun them rather than embrace them.
In Psalm 11: 5: it says that, “The Lord tests the righteous and the wicked, and the one who loves violence His Soul hates.” Psalm 147: 11: says “The Lord favors (takes pleasure) in those who (reverently and worship-fully) fear Him, in those who hope in His mercy and lovingkindness”. Isaiah 43: 21: says “The people whom I formed for Myself shall declare My Praise”.
Many would gladly have the result without having to go through the process, but Romans 8: 29: says “For those He foreknew (of Whom He was aware and loved beforehand), He also destined from the beginning to be molded (conformed) into the Image of His Son Jesus (and share inwardly His Likeness)….” What a phenomenal honor to realize that God’s purpose in all we undergo is to make us resemble His Own Son.
Dearest Holy Lord Jesus: may we always be eternally grateful to You for all that You have permitted to come our way. Enable us to receive Your thoughts and wisdom that we may know Your ways in the matters that pertain to righteousness; to what goal You desire to achieve for our life. May we, in every situation proclaim as in Job 1: 21b: “the Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; blessed (praised and magnified in worship) be the Name of the Lord!” Glory to You alone!
