Psalm 112: 4: Light arises in the darkness for the upright; He is gracious and compassionate and righteous.

Giselle's Devotional, by Giselle.

It is oftentimes so difficult to discern the true value of things, and especially where people are concerned, as we live in a world where some think nothing of plagiarizing, imitating, and acting out a learned behavior. Sad to say that the Family of God, where one should be safe and protected from such, is not immunized to deception; with some not even knowing they are deceivers, or being deceived.

Today’s Scripture declares that in the day of darkness that light arises for the upright (One who behaves in a moral or honorable manner). Luke 11: 33: says, “No one after lighting a lamp, puts it in a cellar, nor under a peck measure, but on the lamp-stand in order that those who enter may see the light.” When the times get rough, it is the person who has received and adheres to “Jesus Who is Light of the world,” that stands out from among all those who walk after the counsel of this world. That person demonstrates graciousness (displaying divine grace), compassion (sympathy for the suffering of others, often including a desire to help) and righteousness (In right standing with God).

In verses 34 + 35; we read, “The lamp of your body is your eye; when your eye is clear (healthy), then your whole body is also full of light, but when it is bad, your body also is full of darkness. Then watch out that the light in you may not be darkness;” Here we have Jesus giving us the link and warning between what we see with our eyes, as invading our bodies; either light or darkness. In Mark 4: 24: we read, “And He (Jesus) was saying to them, “Take care what you listen to. By your standard of measure it will be measured to you; and more will be given you besides. Because of this lax society in which we live, so many have lost the art of discipline upon their personal faculties; eyes, ears, feeling, touch, senses…and find themselves in bondage to what has been portrayed before them.

In stark contrast, Jesus says in verse 36: “If therefore your whole body is full of light, with no dark part in it, it shall be wholly illumined, as when the lamp illumines you with its rays.” It also bears repeating that Jesus says in John 8: 12: “…I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me shall not walk in the darkness, but shall have the Light of Life.”

Dearest Holy Lord Jesus: Thank You so very much for Your unceasing prayers for us, as we walk through this pilgrim’s pathway. Thank You for Your precious Gift to us of Your Most Holy Spirit, for such Divine Supernatural keeping power. Come and draw many to complete surrender of every area of life, so that Your Light may penetrate every fiber of our being. Glory to You alone!
