There are many places where I can run and hide and be safe, till the storm passes by. One summer, while sitting in our dining tent, we thought we would be brave and stay put during a Thunder storm. While the lightning flashes were still far away it was quite amazing to look at, but as soon as it was near enough so we could hear the earth vibrating beneath our feet, needless to say, we rushed into the house for safety. Reality is that many have not found safety anywhere during severe storms. The most impregnable fortresses are vulnerable at any given time to the forces of nature.
The Lord, however, doesn’t give us only temporal protection from the raging elements that might surround us, but He is our Eternal Strong Tower and Refuge from the wrath to come. In Him we are safe forever, as we run to Him for mercy and forgiveness to the Salvation of our soul. We can choose the temporal shelters that will give us momentary protection, and yet lose eternal safety.
In 1 Peter 1: 4 – 5: we read, “to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in Heaven for you, Who are protected by the Power of God through faith (in Jesus Christ) for a Salvation to be revealed in the last time.”
Dearest Lord Jesus: thank You so very much for Your goodness to us. Thank You for the Protection and assurance that we have in You, and in Your Holy Word. Thank You that when we are afraid, we can place our trust in You, and Your Perfect Holy Love comes in and dispels all that could disrupt the peace that passes all understanding, which You Yourself have given us. Strengthen us today with Holy resolve to keep our eyes on You, our only Place of secured safety. Glory to You alone!
