It is evident from this Scripture that the Lord Jesus Himself refers to two different choices of paths in which we may choose to walk. He refers to “the darkness” and “the Light”. As we choose to implicitly follow Him, it is impossible for us to choose to walk in the path of darkness; as He guaranties us that we have in Him the Light of life.
As very young Christian I was faced with the dilemma of what Church to attend; one was very familiar, but I sensed that the Lord was leading me to step out in faith in another direction. I continued to go to both services for some time, until in answer to prayer the Lord gave me the above Scripture. I knew without the shadow of a doubt that the Lord Jesus would never lead me anywhere but in the direct center of His will for my life, because I was following Jesus. And that was, and always has been, my utmost priority, that I would not ever stray from God’s perfect will in my life.
Psalm 32: 8: says, “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with My Eye upon you.” What powerful words of assurance we have from the Lord, of guidance in the everyday situations, every moment of the day. Isaiah 54: 14: says, “In righteousness you will be established; you will be far from oppression, for you will not fear, and from terror, for it will not come near you.” Psalm 16: 11: says, “Thou wilt make known to me the path of life; In Thy Presence there is fullness of joy; In Thy right Hand there are pleasures forever.”
Dearest Holy Lord Jesus: what a marvelous gift You are to all who have walked in the darkness, and now live in the Light of Your Countenance. What hope also for all those who still are in the darkness, that calling upon Your Name, they also may be transferred from the kingdom of darkness into Your marvelous Light. Come by Your Holy Spirit, and draw many to enter in to this new Life of Light, found only in You. Glory to You alone!
