My mind wanders this morning, as I read this Scripture, to the thought of a slave finally purchased by a kind and wealthy Master. The Master has had to go away for a time and the humble servant, confronted by all kinds of opposition, declares that he knows that his redemption is not only real, but, the One who redeemed him lives, and will one day return for him. He also declares that his Master is not just an ordinary person, but that at the end of all time, He will take His stand and reign upon the earth.
Job has been declaring this very scenario throughout the ages in this account from the Word of God, way before Jesus was ever born. Our choice today is, “Is Jesus my Redeemer? Is He the One who purchased my Eternal Salvation? Is He the One I am waiting for, to bring me into His Eternal Kingdom? Am I professing amid all the oppositions that I face unequivocal faith in His Faithfulness to return for me one day?
Job 23: 10 – 12: For He (God) knows the Way I take; when He has tried me, I shall come forth as gold. My foot has held fast to His Path; I have kept His Way and not turned aside. I have not departed from the command of His Lips; I have treasured the Words of His Mouth more than my necessary food.”
Dearest Holy Lord Jesus: I thank You for the Grace extended to us, to know that we have been redeemed. I pray for all those who are still in bondage, and need to know that Jesus is the One who paid in full for their ransom. In the midst of such oppression all around the world, may Your Holy Spirit draw many to this Holy Truth. Glory to You alone!
