In Luke 3: 3b: we read, “The Word of God came to John (the Baptist) the son of Zacharias in the wilderness. And he came into all the district around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins; as it is written in the Book of the words of Isaiah (40: 3:) the Prophet, “The voice of one crying in the wilderness, make ready the way of the Lord, make His paths straight.” And these words still hold power and truth for us today, for from these verses we see a direct result of repentance, being the revelation of the glory of the Lord.  Jesus says in John 16: 8 – 11: “And He (the Holy Spirit), when He comes shall convict the world concerning sin, righteousness, and judgment.” The Holy Spirit has for this purpose to bring us to repentance (to right standing with God through the Blood of Jesus Christ applied for the washing away of all our sins), so that the life and glory of the Lord might be revealed in and through us. Once repentance takes place in one’s life, then the Lord is able to fill us with His Holy Spirit, thereby letting His very Presence revealed, through and within us. Isaiah 60: 2: says, “For behold, darkness will cover the earth, and deep darkness the peoples; but the Lord will rise upon you, and His glory will be revealed in you.
