The distractions, deceptions, and gruesome awfulness of what we often see and hear in today’s media-frenzied society are a constant barrage of assault against anyone deciding to live by faith. In order to live by faith, our eyes and heart must be focused on the One in Whom our faith lies. 1 John 5: 4 – 5 says, “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world – our faith. And who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who believes in Jesus the Son of God. “Believing in Jesus is the only way to overcoming power in our lives. 1 John 3: 3 says, “And everyone who has this hope (resting, fixed) on Him (Jesus) cleanses (purifies) himself, just as He is pure (chaste, undefiled, guiltless). Jesus says to Thomas who would not believe until he saw Jesus with his own eyes, in John 20: 29, “Because you have seen Me, have you believed? Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believe. “We must choose to go against the stream of today’s uncertainties, and fasten the focus of every aspect of our lives to the only unchangeable hope and anchor we have in Jesus.
