The distractions, deceptions, and gruesome awfulness of what we often see and hear in today’s media-frenzied society are a constant barrage of assault against anyone deciding to live by faith. In order to live by faith, our eyes and heart must be focused on the One in Whom our faith lies.
1 John 5: 4 – 5 says, “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world – our faith. And who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who believes in Jesus the Son of God. “Believing in Jesus is the only way to overcoming power in our lives.
1 John 3: 3 says, “And everyone who has this hope (resting, fixed) on Him (Jesus) cleanses (purifies) himself, just as He is pure (chaste, undefiled, guiltless). Jesus says to Thomas who would not believe until he saw Jesus with his own eyes, in John 20: 29, “Because you have seen Me, have you believed? Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believe. “We must choose to go against the stream of today’s uncertainties, and fasten the focus of every aspect of our lives to the only unchangeable hope and anchor we have in Jesus.
Hebrews 12: 2 – 3 says, “Looking away (from all that would distract) to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith (giving the first incentive to our belief) and is also its Finisher (bringing it to maturity and perfection). He, for the joy (of obtaining the prize) that was set before Him, endured the Cross, despising the shame, and is now seated at the right Hand of the throne of God. Just think of Him who endured from sinners such grievous opposition and bitter hostility against Himself (reckon up and consider it all in comparison with your trials), so that you may not grow weary or exhausted, losing heart and relaxing and fainting in your minds (Amplified).” Romans 4: 16a says, “Therefore, (inheriting) the promise is the outcome of faith and depends (entirely) on faith, in order that it might be given as an act of grace (unmerited favor), to make it stable and valid and guaranteed to all…
Dearest Holy Lord Jesus: Come by Your Holy Spirit, and strengthen the faith of all those who are traumatized by the unimaginable cruel acts of the ungodly. By Your Power, may You lift our eyes from the constant earthly devastations we witness, to have them stayed upon Thee. Come and comfort those who are mourning the loss of their loved ones, and draw them to You, the only Source of both our temporal and Eternal Hope. Glory to You alone!
