If ever there was an example within God’s Word to the power of what one says, this is it. Psalm 89: 7 tells us, “A God greatly feared in the council of the holy ones, and awesome above all those who surround Him.” As a direct answer to turning his heart to understanding (acting wisely, justly), repentance before the Lord’s Majesty, and his fervent prayers, an angel is sent to reassure Daniel that his words were heard. In verse 2 it says, “…I, Daniel, had been mourning for three weeks.” Yet his words were heard the first day he began to pray. Sometimes there is a distance between the time we pay, and the time the Lord sends the answer. Proverbs 15: 8b says, “The prayer of the upright is His (God’s) delight.” It is said that Daniel was a man of high esteem in the eyes of man and God, and yet he was almost overwhelmed by the delay to his prayers, and battle against him. David speaks to us in 2 Samuel 22: 7 + 10b + 14b + 17 + 20, saying, “From His Temple He heard my voice, and my cry for Help came into His Ears…He came down…the Most High uttered His Voice…He sent from on High, He took me; He drew me out of many waters…He rescued me because He delighted in me.” Psalm 34: 17 – 19 says, “The righteous cry and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles.
