Jesus speaks to us in Mark 2: 17: and says, “It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick; I came not to call the righteous but sinners.” Here Jesus makes a distinction as well, which defines for us that health and righteousness and sickness and sin are directly related. We know from different Scriptures that some illnesses are not a result of sin, but for the most part, they are. Jesus says in John 5: 14: “Do not sin anymore, so that nothing worse may befall you,” Clearly it is a caution to all who have come to Jesus in repentance that they refrain from turning back to their old ways. In 1 John 1: 7: we read, “But if we walk in the light as He Himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.” I know most illnesses, being so rampant today, are attributed to known causes and labeled by the medical profession.” However, I must consider that if my eternal salvation is directly related to turning away from sin, I must also consider that the benefits of repentance are not only righteousness, but also complete healing. In Luke 17: 12 – 19: Jesus heals ten leprous men who cried to Him for mercy.
