1 John 1: 9: “If we confess our sins, He (Jesus) is faithful and righteousness (just) to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Giselle's Devotional, by Giselle.

Jesus speaks to us in Mark 2: 17: and says, “It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick; I came not to call the righteous but sinners.” Here Jesus makes a distinction as well, which defines for us that health and righteousness and sickness and sin are directly related. We know from different Scriptures that some illnesses are not a result of sin, but for the most part, they are.

Jesus says in John 5: 14: “Do not sin anymore, so that nothing worse may befall you,” Clearly it is a caution to all who have come to Jesus in repentance that they refrain from turning back to their old ways.

In 1 John 1: 7: we read, “But if we walk in the light as He Himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.” I know most illnesses, being so rampant today, are attributed to known causes and labeled by the medical profession.” However, I must consider that if my eternal salvation is directly related to turning away from sin, I must also consider that the benefits of repentance are not only righteousness, but also complete healing.

In Luke 17: 12 – 19: Jesus heals ten leprous men who cried to Him for mercy. In verse 15 on we read, “Now one of them, when he saw that he had been healed, turned back, glorifying God with a loud voice, and he fell on his face at His feet, giving thanks to Him… Jesus said to him, “Rise and go your way; your faith has made you well (whole, complete, forgiven).”

Dearest Lord Jesus: thank You for the truth of Your Word, which gives us wisdom in the way we are to walk in You. Come by Your Holy Spirit and bring true repentance to our hearts that we may receive complete forgiveness and healing, which You alone can impart. Open our eyes to see that our ways are not Your ways and Your thoughts are not our thoughts. Isaiah 55: 8. You call us to turn from our sinful ways, so that we can receive the benefits of walking in righteousness, some of which are pardoned iniquities and healed diseases. Psalms 103: 3 Glory to God alone!
