I remember distinctly, as if it were a few moments ago, one night getting up to meditate on God’s Word. I was troubled about what seems to be so trivial now, but very real at the time. The Lord led me to this verse above, and as I composed myself before Him to accept the situation as it was, and began to praise Him, He turned it into a song, which has since blessed me and countless others. It has been several years since, and I find this song, “My soul waits in silence,” particularly, carries me to complete surrender to the Lord’s will, every time I hear it. The original situation has fluctuated through the years, but the Lord has enabled me repeatedly to refocus my eyes upon Him. There are many ways that I can wait on the Lord, but to wait in silence, has to be the ultimate discipline. The urge is in all of us to be impatient, to complain, murmur, and sometimes even get frustrated and angry, when we do not see the things which we have prayed for come our way. Sometimes, the greatest to overcome is a sense of giving up that seems to invade even the space where we walk. In Zephaniah 3: 6b, says, “Do not be afraid, 0 Zion; Do not let your hands fall limp.” 2 Chronicles 15: 7, says, “But you, be strong and do not lose courage (do not let your hands drop), for there is a reward for your work.” The…
