What a marvelous God we serve that, not only is He our Place of safety and security, but He also sets our paths for us, and sets us free. Psalm 37: 23 (Amplified) says, “The steps of a good (righteous) man are directed and established by the Lord; and He delights in his way (and He busies Himself with his every step).” There is such a sense of peace that comes and settles upon us when we grasp the truths of these words; God directing our very steps, so we do not have to make needless retractions in our lives. In verse 34a we read, “Wait for the Lord, and keep His Way, and He will exalt you to inherit the land.” It is in direct conflict with the message of the world today, which says, “Get everything yesterday, at whatever cost, get ahead.” It is not uncommon to see generations striving to frantically accumulate possessions for the most part of their lives, while trying to downsize the next. Psalm 37: 4 says, “Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” We can surely see the difference of total dependence on the Lord, as to the struggle there is in trying to do it all in our own strength.
