What a marvelous God we serve that, not only is He our Place of safety and security, but He also sets our paths for us, and sets us free. Psalm 37: 23 (Amplified) says, “The steps of a good (righteous) man are directed and established by the Lord; and He delights in his way (and He busies Himself with his every step).” There is such a sense of peace that comes and settles upon us when we grasp the truths of these words; God directing our very steps, so we do not have to make needless retractions in our lives.
In verse 34a we read, “Wait for the Lord, and keep His Way, and He will exalt you to inherit the land.” It is in direct conflict with the message of the world today, which says, “Get everything yesterday, at whatever cost, get ahead.” It is not uncommon to see generations striving to frantically accumulate possessions for the most part of their lives, while trying to downsize the next. Psalm 37: 4 says, “Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” We can surely see the difference of total dependence on the Lord, as to the struggle there is in trying to do it all in our own strength. It is the righteous, blameless, and those who seek refuge in the Lord who have these promises, not only available, but fulfilled on their behalf.
As we submit our ways to God, He is able to set our steps in His Way, to fulfill the purpose for which we have been created. As long as we demand our own way of doing things we will continue to have the same result; disillusionment. Jesus says in John 14: 6, “I am the Way and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.” We are able to know of a certainty that our eternal destination (way) is secured, as we submit to accept God’s plan of Salvation for our life. Romans 10: 9 and 10 says, “If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, (the only way to Heaven), and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. For with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses resulting in Salvation.
Dearest Holy Lord Jesus: Thank you so much for making Yourself the only Way by which we are able to be assured of constant direction, till we see You Face to face, and remain in You for our journey there; our Strong Fortress and Security. May You by Your Holy Spirit direct many to identify and choose Jesus, the only True Way, which You have made available for all. Mightily encourage those who are following in Your Footsteps, and comfort all who need reassurance of their way today. Glory to You alone!
