Psalm 32: 7: “Thou art my Hiding Place; Thou dost preserve me from trouble; thou dost encompass me about with songs of deliverance.”

Giselle's Devotional, by Giselle.

What an indescribable gift is the gift of song. I cannot imagine what life would be without the Lord’s anointed music. Just as tears and laughter are a means of expression, songs are expressions welling up from the heart.

In Isaiah 12: 2: we read, “Behold God is my Salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; for the Lord God is my Strength and Song, and He has become my Salvation.” The Lord Himself is the Song of His people; from the midst of their heart He causes the rivers of life to flow into melodies of love and praise, which then return to Him, for He alone is worthy to receive them. Like a brook returning to the ocean, or the dew returning to the clouds, the cycle continues.

Jesus and the disciples sang Hymns just after the Last Supper. Compassed about with a Song, He went on to Calvary on our behalf. In Ephesians 5: 18b +19: it says, “Be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in Psalms and Hymns and Spiritual Songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.” It does not matter what the circumstances are, our song cannot remain silent unless we will it to be silent. Imagine “Amazing Grace,” and choosing not to sing it.

When we are face to face with the Grace of God in our life, and the depth of His Mercy throughout the centuries, it is unimaginable that our heart not burst into Thanksgiving. When there is uncertainty, confusion, trouble of any kind, the song released within our heart by faith is priceless to the Lord. Psalm 50: 23: says, “Whoso offereth praise glorifieth Me; and to him that ordereth his conversation aright I will show the Salvation of God.”  Psalm 22: 3: says, “Yet Thou art Holy, O Thou who art enthroned upon the praises of Israel (Thy people).” God chooses to live in the midst of the praises of His people, because praise is the voice of faith, but also because all that the Lord has created is to give Glory, Honor, and Praise to God their Creator. Psalm 150.

Dearest Holy Lord Jesus: thank You so much for being Our own personal Hiding Place from all the hustle and bustle of this world. Thank You for being our own personal Song, and for surrounding us with Your Presence. Let Your Song well up within us that it may be a Testimony of Thy Goodness to all who may hear. Thank You for the Grace of knowing that the choices we have in life are ours alone to choose. Let us choose today to fulfill the purpose for which we were created; to give Praise to Thy Name. May many be edified today, as they release their own song of praise to You. Glory to You alone!
