Only the Lord is able to fill us with the measure of sympathy and love for those who are suffering. How can we know the trauma of what some are going through, except through the Holy Spirit of Grace and Power, unless we have experienced it ourselves? In Matthew 5: 44, Jesus says, “But I say to you, “Love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you.” As we call upon the Lord to fill us with Calvary Love, He enables us to have His Love extended even to those who are the offenders, therefore, keeping our hearts free from being hardened. The choices our enemies make may not change, but if we let our hearts become embittered at their actions, then we ourselves have fallen victims of disobedience to the Lord’s commandments to “Love our enemies.”
