John 14: 27: “Peace I leave with you; My Peace I give to you; not as the world gives, do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.”

Giselle's Devotional, home-page, by Giselle.

In the Amplified version of the latter part of this Scripture, it says, “Stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.” What faith the Lord placed within his disciples to accept His peace and refuse all worldly emotional irritants that would come against their faith, and thereby rob them of His gift of peace. It is also a blessing to hear from the Lord Himself that there is a counterfeit to what He gives, so that we may know that what He imparts cannot be duplicated, or taken away from us; unless of course we will it.

In the Book of Proverbs we see that Peace is directly related to obedience, as in Chapter 3: 1 + 2: “My son, do not forget my teaching (Law), but let your heart keep my commandments; for length of days and years of life and peace they will add to you.”

In Isaiah 9: 6: we read that one of the Names of the promised Son would be called “Prince of Peace.”  In Luke 1: 79, Zachariah confirms this Word as he prophesies that (the Lord is) “To shine upon and give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to direct and guide our feet in a straight line into the way of peace.”

And in Isaiah 26: 3 + 12, it says, “You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind (both its inclination and its character) is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on You, and hopes confidently in You. Lord, You will ordain peace (God’s favor and blessings, both temporal and spiritual) for us, for You have also wrought (accomplished) in us and for us all our works.” Amplified. What powerful truths to assimilate within our spirit.

Dearest Holy Lord Jesus: may we by Your Holy Spirit receive the wisdom of these Words, that they may penetrate every fiber of our being, never to be removed. Thank You Jesus for the gift of Your peace in the midst of all this commercialized and violent world we live in. May You reveal Yourself as Prince of Peace in our lives in a greater way than ever before. All Glory to You alone!
