In verses 12 – 13b – 14 of this chapter we read of the Lord’s compassion towards His people, saying “And they shall come and shout for joy on the height of Zion, and they shall be radiant over the bounty of the Lord – over the grain, and the new wine, and the oil, and over the young of the flock and the herd; and they shall be like a watered garden, and they shall never languish again. …For I will turn their mourning into joy, and I will comfort them, and give them joy of their sorrow. And I will fill the soul of the priests with abundance, and My people shall be satisfied with My Goodness,” declares the Lord.”
What a mighty promise we have from the Lord, to all who would come to Him for security, away from the myriads of deceptions confronting us at every turn. The Lord is Mighty to draw, to save, to protect, direct, and provide for, in every given situation.
In Jeremiah 29: 11 – 14b: we read, “For I know the plans that I have for you,” declares the Lord. “Plans for welfare (good) and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.” Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. And I will be found by you,” declares the Lord, “and I will restore your fortunes and will gather you…”
How wonderful to know the tender mercies of the Lord, which He is longing to lavish on all who would call upon His Name for Salvation. Psalm 103: 8 – 14: says, “The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness. He will not always strive with us; nor will He keep His anger forever. He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as high as the Heavens are above the earth, so great is His lovingkindness toward those who (reverently and worshipfully) fear Him. As far is the east from the west, so far has He removed our transgression from us. Just as a father has compassion (and pities) on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him (with reverence, worship and awe). For He Himself knows our frame; He is mindful (remembers and imprints on His Heart) that we are but dust.”
