My thoughts are on those who have chosen to ignore the words of the Lord throughout the millenniums. It did not matter whether they adhered to them or not, God’s Word was still going to come to pass. Even way back the people tried to dodge what the Lord was saying. And still to this day we have so many who choose to elevate the thoughts of their own mind, or of those who preach counsel against God’s Word, to their own detriment. The Lord is very specific about what He has to say to every generation, and it is all contained within His already written Word. Verses 23b + 25 says, But tell them, “The days draw near as well as the fulfillment of every vision. For I the Lord shall speak, and whatever Word I speak will be performed. It shall no longer be delayed, for in your days, O rebellious house, I shall speak the Word and perform it,” declares the Lord.”
We see some of the dilemma from God’s perspective when He sends His Word as a warning from the Prophet Ezekiel in Chapter 2: 4 + 7: “And I am sending you to them who are stubborn and obstinate children; and you shall say to them, “Thus says the Lord God.” “But you shall speak My Words to them whether they listen or not, for they are rebellious.”
We find the same deceptions in the time of the apostles, as we read in 1 Timothy 4: 1 – 2 + 7 – 8 + 10: saying, “But the (Holy) Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons, by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron… But have nothing to do with worldly fables…discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness…godliness is profitable for all things, since it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come. For it is for this we labor and strive, because we have fixed our hope on the Living God, Who is the Savior of all men, especially believers. Pay close attention to yourself and to your teaching (What God’s Word says); persevere in these things; for as you do this you will ensure salvation both for yourself and for those who hear you.”
We are given further wisdom in Chapter 6: 3 – 4a + 20 – 21: “If anyone advocates a different doctrine (Gospel), and does not agree with sound words, those of our Lord Jesus Christ, and with the doctrine conforming to godliness, he is conceited and understands nothing;… guard what has been entrusted to you, avoiding worldly and empty chatter and the opposing arguments of what is falsely called “Knowledge”-which some have professed and thus gone astray from the faith. Grace be with you.” 2 Timothy 1: 13a – 14: says, “Retain the standard of sound words…Guard through the Holy Spirit Who dwells in us, the Treasure which has been entrusted to you.” Psalm 119: 11: says, “Thy Word have I treasured (hid) in my heart, that I may not sin against you.”
Dearest Holy Lord Jesus: thank You so much for being the Word made flesh for us from God the Father. Thank You for Your Keeping Power in this time of unprecedented error and deception. Come by Your Holy Spirit, and reveal the Truth of Your Word to all who may not have had the opportunity to read or hear it before, so that they may also partake of Your precious Holy Promises of Salvation from the wrath to come on all those who choose not to believe in Your Holy Word. Psalm 119: 89: “Thy Word, O Lord, is ever settled in Heaven (and cannot be undone).” Glory to You alone!
