Psalm 71: 6 “By Thee I have been sustained from birth; Thou art He who took me from my mother’s womb; my praise is continually of Thee.

Giselle's Devotional, home-page, by Giselle.

Only the Lord’s undertaking in one’s life from earliest years can satisfy the understanding that our minds demand of it. Most of us who are Christians, and now have children of our own, are only beginning to look back with wonder at how God’s Hand prevailed in our lives. There is no way that we should have survived many situations, illnesses or accidents, even from a very young age. And yet here we are through God’s Grace, kept for such a time as this. Psalm 117: 2: says, “For His Lovingkindness is great toward us (His Love prevails over us); and the truth of the Lord is everlasting.”

Psalm 139: 16: says, “Thine Eyes have seen my unformed substance; and in Thy Book they were all written, the days that were appointed for me, when as yet there was not one of them.” Psalm 22: 9-10: says, “Yet Thou art He Who didst bring me forth from my mother’s womb; Thou didst make me trust when upon my mother’s breasts. Upon Thee I was cast from birth; Thou hast been my God from my mother’s womb.”

Since for some of us the days behind us are more than those ahead, all the more we should take every moment given to us as a gift to be used for God’s Glory, while we still have them to live. Psalm 37: 25: says, “I have been young, and now I am old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, or his descendants begging bread.” Psalm 71: 17-19: says, “O God, Thou hast taught me from my youth; and I still declare Thy wondrous deeds. And even when I am old and gray, O God, do not forsake me, until I declare Thy strength to this generation, Thy power to all who are to come, for Thy righteousness, O God, reaches to the Heavens, Thou Who hast done great things; O God, Who is like Thee?” Psalm 90: 12: says, “So teach us to number our days, that we may present to You a heart of wisdom.”

Dearest Holy Lord Jesus, thank You for Your sustaining Power, which has kept us until we responded to Your Grace and gift of Salvation. May many realize today the frailty and limited time we have been allotted here on earth. May You be greatly glorified through these vessels You have chosen, and adopted as Your Own. Thank You for Your protection, discipline, and Your Grace poured into our lives, as the Great Guardian of our souls. Glory to You alone!
