Psalm 9: 9 The Lord also will be a Stronghold for the oppressed, a Stronghold in times of trouble

Giselle's Devotional, home-page, by Giselle.

In an amplified version of this verse, it reads, “The Lord also will be a Refuge and High Tower for the oppressed, a Refuge and a Stronghold in times of trouble (high cost, destitution, and desperation). And verse 10 says, “And they who know Your (God’s) Name (who have experienced and have acquaintance with Your mercy) will lean on and confidently put their trust in You, for You, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek (inquire of, and for) You (on the authority of God’s Word and the right of their necessity).” There are so many of us who can attest to the truth of these verses, and yet, so many who spend their lifetime getting back in to their daily routine, without ever having known the Glory of being kept by God.

In Isaiah 40: 29 – 31: we read, “He (God) gives power to the faint and weary, and to him who has no might He (God) increases strength (causing it to multiply and making it abound). Even youths shall faint and be weary, and (selected) young men shall feebly stumble and fall exhausted; but those who wait for the Lord (who expect, look for, and hope in Him) shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up (close to God) as eagles; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired.” Here we see the Power of God’s intervention and transformation into his peoples’ lives at the end of their rope, to cause them to rise above their circumstances, and to live into the realm of the Lord’s attributes. Ephesians 6: 10: says, “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the Power of His might.”

Psalm 68: 19 – 20 + 28: says, “Blessed be the Lord Who daily bears our burden, the God Who is our Salvation. God is to us a God of deliverances; and to God the Lord belong escapes from death. Your God has commanded your strength; Show Thyself strong, O God, Who hast acted on our behalf.” Psalm 57: 2 – 3: says, “I will cry to God Most High, to God Who accomplishes all things for me. He will send from Heaven and save me; He reproaches him who tramples upon me. God will send forth His Lovingkindness and His Truth.”

Jesus tell us in John 6: 27 – 29: “Stop toiling and doing and producing for the food that perishes and decomposes (in the using), but strive and work and produce rather for (lasting) food which endures (continually) unto eternal life; the Son of Man (Jesus) will give (furnish) you that, for God the Father has authorized and certified Him (Jesus) and put His seal of endorsement upon Him. They said therefore to Him (Jesus), “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God? Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him (Jesus) Whom He has sent.”

Dearest Holy Lord Jesus: thank You so much for being our Stronghold through all oppositions that could ever come our way. Thank You for being our Hiding Place that never changes, and the Habitation to which we may continually run to. Come by Your Holy Spirit, and encourage us all to finally let go of our feeble ways of doing things, so that we may witness Your Power to undertake in our lives for Your Glory. Glory to You alone!
