Since we know that the Word of God is Spirit, and is alive and active, we also know that the Lord is not limited to keep His Word boxed in, and confined to times, places, or peoples. In the spiritual sense, we know that the Lord comes and rebuilds lives, so that all may see the wonders and testimonies of His works within a person who repents, and turns from his ruined life to the Lord’s Mercy. The Lord places a great emphasis on the enjoyment He has in restoring broken, contrite, and humble people.
Jesus demonstrates His Divine mission on earth in Luke 4: 17 – 18: saying, “And the Book of the Prophet Isaiah was handed to Him (Jesus). And He opened the Book, and found the place where it was written (Isaiah 61: 1 – 2a), “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because the Lord has anointed Me to preach the Gospel to the poor (humble). He has sent Me to proclaim release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free those who are downtrodden, to proclaim the favorable year of the Lord.” What a joy to know that the Lord had us in mind when He was reading these verses of Scripture, and that He is actively involved in performing His Word to this day!
There are many other powerful promises of restoration by the Lord from Isaiah 61, as we complete verses 2b – 3 + 7 + 9: saying, “And the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn, to grant those who mourn in Zion, giving them a garland instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the mantle of praise instead of a spirit of fainting, so they will be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified. Instead of your shame you will have a double portion, and instead of humiliation they will shout for joy over their portion. Therefore, they will possess a double portion in their land, everlasting joy will be theirs. Then their offspring will be known among the nations, and their descendants in the midst of the peoples. All who see them will recognize them, because they are the offspring whom the Lord has blessed.” This is what the Lord says that He has spoken, and that He will also do for His people; restore their lives.
Is it any wonder that the Prophet Isaiah exclaims in Verse 10: “I will rejoice greatly in the Lord, my soul will exult in my God; for He has clothed me with garments of Salvation, He has wrapped me with a robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with a garland, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.” Malachi 3: 17 – 18: says, “And they will be Mine,” says the Lord of hosts, “on the day when I prepare My own possession, and I will spare them as a man spares his own son who serves him. So you will again distinguish between the righteous and the wicked, between the one who serves God and the one who does not serve Him.”
Dearest Holy Lord Jesus: thank You so very much for the delight, care, and time which you take in restoring those who surrender completely to you. Come by Your Holy Spirit, and draw many from the ashes of disillusionment and turmoil, to call upon the Name of Jesus, so that He can be the only Source of their well-being, and restoration. May You be greatly glorified in all the rebuilt lives that testify continually of Thy Goodness. Glory to You alone!
