Psalm 108: 13 Through our God we shall do valiantly; it is He who will tread down our adversaries

Giselle's Devotional, home-page, by Giselle.

We find a story of great hope for today’s increasing divide within our world in the Book of Samuel chapter 17. A great army, among which are several giants, has risen against God’s people; and all of God’s people run and hide at the taunting of this fierce looking opposition. One young shepherd man named David, however, while visiting the besieged camp one day, did not even hesitate to rise and offer to go and defeat this enemy; because he knew the Power of God within his personal everyday life.

In verses 17 + 45 – 46ac – 47: we read, “And David said, “The Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of the Philistine. And (King) Saul said to David, “Go and may the Lord be with you. Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, a spear, and a javelin, but I come to you in the Name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have taunted. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands…that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel, and that all this assembly may know that the Lord does not deliver by sword or by spear; for the battle is the Lord’s, and He will give you into our hands.”

David came to his enemy in, and with the Name of the Lord of hosts; and we in like manner have been given the Name that is above all names, to be our Deliverer. Acts 3: 22 – 23: says, “Moses said, “the Lord God shall raise for you a Prophet (Jesus) like me from your brethren; to Him you shall give heed in everything He says to you.” And it shall be that every soul that does not heed that prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.” Chapter 4: 12: “And there is Salvation in no one else; for there is no other Name under Heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved.” Philippians 2: 9 – 10: says, “Therefore also God, highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the Name that is above every other name, that at the Name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in Heaven, and on earth, and under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the Glory of God.”

Acts 4: 29 – 31: says, “And now, Lord, take note of their threats, and grant that Thy bond-servants may speak Thy Word with all confidence, while Thou dost extend Thy Hand to heal, and signs and wonders take place through the Name of Thy Holy Servant Jesus. And when they had prayed the place where they were gathered was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak the Word of God with boldness.”

Dearest Holy Lord Jesus: thank You so very much for the testimonies of all within the Scriptures, who daily witness to us of Thy Power to save, deliver and protect. Come by Your Holy Spirit, and do mighty spiritual battle on behalf of Thy people all over the world that the world may again recognize and know, that there is a God in Heaven who comes to the rescue of all who place their trust in Him, and in the Name of Jesus, our only Lord and Savior. Glory to You alone!
