Job 23: 2 Then Job replied, Even today my complaint is rebellion

Giselle's Devotional, home-page, by Giselle.

Our society has been lambasted by such a barrage of verbally inadequate outbursts for so long, that it is not surprising how desensitized it is to what is even inappropriate, let alone offensive before the Lord.  It is not uncommon within Scripture to read entire sections about the importance of God creating man for the purpose of being a person of praise, and His displeasure at their hardness of heart not to obey Him, by setting their minds to grumbling and discontent.

1 Peter 2: 9: tells us who we are, and called to be in Jesus, saying, “But you are a Chosen Race, a Royal Priesthood, a Holy Nation, a People for God’s own possession, that you may proclaim the Excellencies of Him Who called you out of darkness into His marvelous Light.” This verse puts to flight any leaning whatsoever toward this modern trend to familiarity, causing us instead to realize that we are now members of a Heavenly Kingdom, where praise is the expected language of the day.

The people of God were brought through the wilderness when they left the land of Egypt, and could have reached the Promised Land within a short period of time. Psalm 81: 6: Psalm 95:10: says, “For forty years, I loathed that generation, and said they are a people who err in their heart (by complaining and grumbling against the Lord), and they do not know My ways.”

Psalm 148: 13 – 14: says, “Let them praise the Name of the Lord, for His Name alone is exalted; His Glory is above earth and Heaven.  And He has lifted up a “horn” for His people, “praise” for all His godly ones; even the sons of Israel (His people), a people near to Him. Praise the Lord!”  Psalm 149: 4 – 5a: says, “For the Lord takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the afflicted ones with Salvation. Let the godly ones exult in glory; let them sing for joy upon their beds. Let the high praise of God be in their mouth.”

Psalm 145: 10 – 12: says, “All Thy works shall give thanks to Thee, O Lord, and Thy godly ones shall bless Thee. They shall speak of the glory of Thy Kingdom, and talk of Thy Power; to make known to the sons of men Thy Mighty acts, and the Glory of the Majesty of Thy Kingdom.”

Dearest Holy Lord Jesus: thank You so much for transferring us into Your Kingdom of Light. Forgive us for all our complaining, and renew a steadfast spirit within us to be the people of praise You have called us to be. Come by Your Holy Spirit, and fill us with thanksgiving that we may give You the worship that You deserve to receive. “Let the words of our mouth and the meditation of our heart be acceptable in Thy Sight, O Lord, Our Rock and our Redeemer.” Psalm 19: 14. Glory to You alone!
