Hebrews 11: 8: “By faith Abraham, when He was called, obeyed by going out to a place which he was to receive for an inheritance; and he went out, not knowing where he was going.”

Giselle's Devotional, by Giselle.

I remember very distinctly the many times that I have sought the Lord for confirmation of His direction in my life throughout the years. And at every turn the Lord confirmed over-abundantly; whether it was when I felt His call to go to Israel, or tour with a singing group, accept leadership positions, the purchase of a new home, vehicle, and so on. The Lord personally led us none more so, than over fifteen years ago, when He led us to leave our comfort zone, and go to a totally new and unfamiliar environment, with no exact destination in mind. Because of His awesome faithfulness to us in every detail of our lives, we continued to trust Him all along the way, even when we have not always seen what lies ahead.

Romans 4: 17b – 19a – 21: says, “even God, Who gives life to the dead and calls into being that which does not exist.” In hope against hope he (Abraham) believed, in order that he might become a father of many nations, according to that which had been spoken (promised to him), “So shall your descendants be. And without becoming weak in faith… yet, with respect to the promise of God, he did not waver in unbelief, but grew strong in faith, giving glory to God, being fully assured that what He had promised, He was able to also perform. Therefore it (his faith) was reckoned to him as righteousness.”

We see how contagious Abraham’s faith was to those who surrounded him, especially his oldest servant in charge of all that he owned, in Genesis 24: 12 + 27: “And he said, “O Lord, the God of my master Abraham, please grant me success today, and show lovingkindness to my master Abraham. And he said, “Blessed be the Lord, the God of my master Abraham, who has not forsaken his lovingkindness and his truth toward my master; as for me, the Lord has led me in the way to the house of my master’s brothers.” He did not know where he was going, and what to do, but the Lord led him all the way, as he also inquired of the Lord in the minutest details of his journey.

Jesus tells us that there is a way in which we are to follow, that will lead us safely all throughout our lives, and into eternity. He says in Matthew 7: 13: “Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and many are those who enter by it. For the gate is small, and the way is narrow that leads to life, and few are those who find it. John 8: 12: says, “Again therefore Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me shall not walk in the darkness, but shall have the Light of life.”

Jesus says in Luke 9: 23 – 24: “If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself (disown himself, forget, lose sight of himself and his own interests, refuse and give up himself), and take up his cross and follow Me (cleave steadfastly to Me, conform wholly to My example in living). For whoever wishes to save (preserve) his life shall lose (destroy) it, but whoever loses his life for My sake, he is the one who will save his life (from the penalty of eternal death).” Matthew 10: 32: says,” Everyone therefore who shall confess Me before men, I will also confess before My Father Who is in Heaven.”

Dearest Holy Lord Jesus: thank You so very much for Your continual utmost faithfulness. Come by Your Holy Spirit, and draw many to complete surrender to Your plan of Salvation, by accepting Jesus as the atoning Sacrifice for our sins. Fill us with Your power to deny ourselves, and give us discernment and assurance to follow in the way that we should go, that Your Eye is upon us. Psalm 32: 8. Glory to You alone!
