Isaiah 32:17: “And the work of righteousness will be peace, and the service of righteousness, quietness and confidence forever.”

Giselle's Devotional, by Giselle.

One of the main witnesses within our spirit, about the leading of the Lord in whatever course we are to take, should be peace. It has been, for both my husband and me, one of the greatest gifts from the Lord to know that if we have the slightest lack of peace in any situation where we are required to make a decision, this is God’s way of telling us to wait, and not to go any further. If either of us has peace and the other does not, we still do not act upon the matter at hand until we both have peace from the Lord. Amos 3:  3 says, “Can two walk together, except they be agreed.” It is impossible for anyone to build the same house with different blueprints. Jesus says in Matthew 12: 25, “And knowing their thoughts He said to them, “Any kingdom divided against itself is laid waste; and any city or house divided against itself shall not stand.”

Proverbs 3: 5 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Here we see that, as our assurance and focus remain on the Lord, He undertakes to fulfill what concerns us; and from this comes our peace and confidence in God. Jesus also says in Matthew 18: 19, “Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven.”

The call for us to have peace within is far more than just personal profit. Many have wandered directly into the path of chaos and untold difficulties, and even falseness, because they did not heed to the storm within. Jesus says in John 14: 27, “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.” Philippians 4:  6 – 7 gives us great insight, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known to God. And God’s peace (shall be yours, that tranquil state of soul assured of its salvation through Jesus Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot, of whatever sort that is, that peace) which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. (V. 7 Amplified)

Dearest Lord Jesus: Thank You for your precious gift of peace which is only found in You. Come by Your Holy Spirit and reveal Your Truth from Your Word to Your people as the only Way to lasting peace. May You be greatly glorified in the turmoil which we often sense, as the obstacle You have placed in our way, in order that we might seek Your Face and Will in our everyday decisions. Thank you for allowing us to know the witness and checks from Your Holy Spirit within, which preserve us from so much turmoil. Glory to You alone!
