Quite some time ago, as is customary, I got up in the middle of the night to read my Bible and to praise the Lord. For weeks, and what seemed like forever, I was just overwhelmed by the Lord’s blessings in my life. Led to read the above verse, I began to see how David as a young shepherd boy while keeping his family’s flocks in the wilderness, would direct his thoughts to yearning for the things of the Lord.
Since he was not of the tribe of Levi which was assigned to the Temple duties, he could only express from a distance, and privately to the Lord, the desires of his heart. This is how the song, “All the days of my life,” was born into my heart. As we read the Scriptures, we know that to David his ultimate joy was to be in the Presence of the Lord; in His courts, because that is where the Lord’s Glory dwelt. In Psalm 29: 9b: David says, “In His Temple everything says “Glory,” and only a few had the awesome privilege of entering in.
Today, because of the atoning Blood of Jesus, we are able to enter into the very Holy Presence of God, where He and His Glory Dwell. Hebrews 4: 16: & 10: 19 + 20: say, “Let us fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the Throne of Grace (the Throne of God’s unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy (for our failures and find Grace to Help in good time for every need (appropriate help, and well-timed help, coming when we need it). Therefore brethren since we have full freedom and confidence to enter into the Holy Place (by the power and virtue) in the Blood of Jesus, by this fresh (new) and living way which He has initiated and dedicated and opened for us through the separating curtain (veil of the Holy of Holies) that is, through His Flesh. What an awesome gift, honor, privilege and responsibility.
Dearest Holy Lord Jesus: the yearning of Thy people for Your Presence continues to this very day. Even Creation has an anxious longing for the revealing of the sons of God. Romans 8: 19. Come by Your Holy Spirit, and fill us to overflowing with Your Love, that we may sense Your Glory within. Come and fill these humble earthly temples with the Treasure of Who You are ….Christ (Jesus) in you (us) the hope of Glory. Colossians 1: 27 Glory to You alone!
