No one could ever ask more of the Lord than to hear Him say that His Presence goes with us, and that He personally gives us rest. Moses in hearing these words replies to the Lord in verses 15 – 16: saying, “If Thy Presence does not go with us, do not carry us up from here….Is it not in Thy going with us that we are distinguished….from all the other people upon the Face of the earth?”
Hebrews 4: 9 – 11a + 12: says “So then there is still awaiting a full and complete Sabbath rest for the (true) people of God. For he who has entered God’s rest also has ceased from the weariness and pain of human labors……Let us therefore be zealous and exert ourselves and strive diligently to enter that rest (of God), to know and experience it for ourselves… For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of Power (making it active and operative, energizing and effective); it is sharper than any two edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and the spirit, of joints and marrow…judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart. Our very rest and confidence lie in the Words the Lord speaks to our hearts.
In 1 John 5: 14 + 15: it says, “And this is the confidence (the assurance, the privilege of boldness) which we have in Him; (we are sure) that if we ask anything according to His Will (in agreement with His Own Plan), He listens and hears us. And if we (positively) know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know (with settled and absolute knowledge) that we have (granted us as our present possessions) the request made of Him. And Jesus confirms to us this Word by saying in John 14: 13: “And I will do whatever you ask in My Name (as representing all that I am), so that the Father may be glorified and extolled in the Son.”
Dearest Holy Lord Jesus: what an awesome privilege we have being part of your people. May You continue to make us aware daily of the very High heritage we have as children of God. Thank You for Your continued Presence, and Your faithfulness in the fulfillment of Your Holy Promises to those who take Shelter underneath Your Everlasting Arms. Glory to You alone!
