In this verse, as in most related to attributing gratefulness and thankfulness to the Lord, we see no mere suggestion, but rather a commandment to do so. In Psalm 15: 1: it says, “Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to Thy Name give Glory because of Thy Lovingkindness, because of Thy Truth (Faithfulness).”  The focus of all Praise is continually to be reverted to the Name of the Lord from whom all blessings flow. Psalm 66: 1 – 3: says, “Make a joyful noise unto God, all the earth; sing forth the honor and glory of His Name; Make His Praise Glorious! Say to God, “How awesome and fearfully glorious are Thy works! Through the greatness of your Power shall your enemies submit themselves to You (with feigned and reluctant obedience).” Isaiah 12: 4 – 5:  says, “And in that day you will say, “Give thanks to the Lord, call upon His Name and by means of His Name (in solemn entreaty); declare and make known His deeds among the peoples of the earth, proclaim that His Name is exalted.
