Verse 18: continues, saying, “To vindicate (do justice to) the orphan and the oppressed, that man who is of the earth may cause terror no more. It is interesting to note that the afflicted and the humble run to the Lord, and He hears their cry, while the man who depends on his earthly (wicked) inclinations causes terror, and is subject to God’s determined wrath. God’s absolutes and truths are not always as distinguishable when listening to the world’s voices, as they often layer shades of grey over the innocent’s plight, and over the truth, and add many shades of so-called white (washing) over deeds of darkness, to deem them acceptable. Here are some fearful Scriptures that I have reflected on over the years; Proverbs 17: 15: says “He who justifies the wicked, and he who condemns the righteous, both of them are an abomination to the Lord.” Somehow, by this Scripture alone, we see clearly that the Lord does not take lightly the condemnation of the innocent, and the justification of the wicked. Psalms 34: 16 + 21: says, “The Face of the Lord is against evildoers, to cut off the memory of them from the earth. Evil shall slay the wicked and those who hate the righteous will be condemned (held guilty).” Psalm 92: 7: “That when the wicked sprouted up like grass, and all who did iniquity flourished, it was only that they might be destroyed forevermore.” Terrifying words to keep one’s focus on staying very, very, close to Jesus!
