This Scripture written a few thousand years ago underscores that no man lives unto himself. Even if we do not know some of our neighbors, it is obvious that they can still see what we do, and what we stand for by the consistencies in our lives. And, it goes both ways; we are able to guide others to righteousness, or lead them astray into error, and possible destruction. What an awesome responsibility is given us in this time frame in which we are allotted to live. Obviously everyone has a free choice, and as is mentioned, we can either guide in the right direction, or lead astray. But one’s influence is the gift (or detriment) we are given to affect time, people, and change. When we take careful inventory of how we choose to live our lives, we may see evidence of what influence we truly have. 1 Corinthians 1: 26 – 27a and 29 and 30 says, “For consider your calling brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; for God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise…that no man should boast before God. But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, Who became to us Wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification and redemption.” So, with these words, we know that our only righteousness is found in Jesus, and true influence comes from His life within. 1 John 4: 9 says, “By this the Love of God…
