One of the main witnesses within our spirit, about the leading of the Lord in whatever course we are to take, should be peace. It has been, for both my husband and I, one of the greatest gifts from the Lord to know that if we have the slightest lack of peace in any situation where we are required to make a decision, this is God’s way of telling us to wait, and not to go any further. If either of us has peace and the other does not, we still do not act upon the matter at hand until we both have peace from the Lord. Amos 3: 3 says, “Can two walk together, except they be agreed.” It is impossible for anyone to build the same house with different blueprints. Jesus says in Matthew 12: 25, “And knowing their thoughts He said to them, “Any kingdom divided against itself is laid waste; and any city or house divided against itself shall not stand.” Proverbs 3: 5 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Here we see that, as our assurance and focus remain on the Lord, He undertakes to fulfill what concerns us; and from this comes our peace and confidence in God.
