God’s Word does not leave any room for discussion as to why some live in abundant life, while others pine away in the doldrums (sluggish state in which no development or improvement occurs) of their own ways. We all know that there are times of difficulties for all; but those who have their hope fixed on Jesus have their hearts upheld through the hardest times. For the man who fears the Lord, Psalm 112: 7 – 8a: says, “He will not fear evil tidings; His heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord. His heart is upheld, he will not fear…” In direct contrast we read Psalm 107: 10 – 11: saying, “There were those who dwelt in darkness and in the shadow of death, prisoners in misery and chains, because they had rebelled against the words of God, and spurned the counsel of the Most High. But, to our great compassionate God be glory, for the next few verses 13 – 15 say, “Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble; He saved them out of their distresses. He brought them out of darkness and in the shadow of death, and He broke their bands apart. Let them give thanks to the Lord for His Lovingkindness, and His wonders to the sons of men! All of us who have turned to the Lord have this testimony, that we cried unto Him, and He heard our prayer, and He delivered us from all our troubles, and has blessed us beyond our greatest expectations.
