The Psalmist David keenly expresses his position as one who belongs to the Lord, especially in Psalm 18: 1 – 2: when he says, “I love you fervently and devotedly, O Lord, my Strength. The Lord is my Rock, my Fortress, and my Deliverer; my God, my firm Strength in Whom I will trust and take refuge, my Shield and the Horn of my Salvation, my Stronghold (High Tower).” I don’t think there is any room for debate as to where his allegiance lies, and so should it be for all who profess the Lord as their Savior.  Of David it is said in 1 Samuel 16: 18b: “he is a skillful musician, a mighty man of valor, a warrior, one prudent in speech, and a handsome man; and the Lord was with him.” 1 Samuel 18: 14 + 30b: says, “And David prospered in all his ways for the Lord was with him…David behaved himself more wisely than all the servants of Saul. So his name was highly esteemed.” 1 Kings 15: 5: says, “David did what was right in the Sight of the Lord, and had not turned aside from anything that He commanded him all the days of his life, except in the case of Uriah the Hittite (David had him killed).
