How wonderful to know that Jesus provides for us the joy that we need for each day; it is there within Him, ready for us to appropriate it to ourselves, even as water is available to us from the well, as we lower our vessel into it. In Acts 2: 28: we read, “Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; Thou wilt make me full of the gladness with Thy Presence.” John 15: 5: becomes all the more real, as Jesus says, “I am the Vine you are the branches; he who abides in Me, and I in him, he bears much fruit; for apart from Me you can do nothing.” Just like the sap that flows within the branch to bring life and fruit, so the life of Jesus, His joy, peace, and all His other attributes are ours, as we abide and live in Him. Dearest Holy Lord Jesus: I thank You for this day, and I ask that we might by Your Holy Spirit draw marvelously from the springs of life that dwell in You. These empty broken vessels that we are will soon lose even what we have, unless You pour within us the sap of Life that we so desperately need to keep our lives vibrant in You.
