In this verse, as in most related to attributing gratefulness and thankfulness to the Lord, we see no mere suggestion, but rather a commandment to do so. In Psalm 15: 1: it says, \u201cNot to us, O Lord, not to us, but to Thy Name give Glory because of Thy Lovingkindness, because of Thy Truth (Faithfulness).\u201d\u00a0 The focus of all Praise is continually to be reverted to the Name of the Lord from whom all blessings flow. Psalm 66: 1 – 3: says, \u201cMake a joyful noise unto God, all the earth; sing forth the honor and glory of His Name; Make His Praise Glorious! Say to God, \u201cHow awesome and fearfully glorious are Thy works! Through the greatness of your Power shall your enemies submit themselves to You (with feigned and reluctant obedience).” Isaiah 12: 4 – 5:\u00a0 says, \u201cAnd in that day you will say, \u201cGive thanks to the Lord, call upon His Name and by means of His Name (in solemn entreaty); declare and make known His deeds among the peoples of the earth, proclaim that His Name is exalted. Sing praise to the Lord, for He has done excellent things (gloriously); let this be made known to all the earth.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In Jeremiah 15: 20: the Lord in speaking to His people says, \u201cThen I will make you to this people (enemies) a fortified wall of bronze; and though they fight against you, they will not prevail (to prove to be stronger and in the position of greater influence and power) over you; for I am with you to save you and deliver you, declares the Lord.\u201d\u00a0 The Lord\u2019s covering love and protection over His people is continually brought to their attention as one of the reasons for thankfulness, as the Psalmist refers to in Psalm 117: 1 – 2: which says, \u201cPraise the Lord, all nations; Laud Him, all peoples, for His Lovingkindness is great toward us (His great Love prevails over us; is stronger and in the position of greater influence and power than any other force), and the truth (faithfulness) of the Lord is everlasting.” Interesting, that \u201ctruth and faithfulness\u201d are interchangeable Words throughout Scripture. \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

James 1: 17: says, \u201cEvery good thing bestowed and every perfect gift is from the Father of Lights, with Whom there is no variation, or shifting shadow.” Proverbs 10: 22: says, \u201cIt is the blessing of the Lord that makes rich, and He adds no sorrow to it.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Dearest Holy Lord Jesus: thank You so very much for Your prevailing Love over us. Thank You for Your overwhelming gifts of Goodness and Lovingkindness and Mercy that You have so lavished upon us. May You quicken us by Your Holy Spirit to be a truly thankful people for Who You are, and all that You have ever done.
