For those of us who have been adults for a while, and have seen tremendous changes in all facets of life take place seemingly overnight, it is more than refreshing to know the Lord\u2019s stabilizing Presence. He is the only unchanging absolute, which any and all of us will ever know; whether we accept it or not. \u00a0Creation, the weather, the financial system, family situations, aging, life and death, are all subject to instant change; but the Lord remains forever. And this unchanging quality is part of what endears us to know Him more and more.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In Exodus 20: 20: we read, \u201cAnd Moses said to the people,\u201cDo not be afraid; for God has come in order to test you, and in order that the (reverent) Fear of Him may remain with you, so that you may not sin.\u201d From earliest times we see the link between the reverent fear of the Lord (as being one\u2019s treasure), and a stable righteous life. Deuteronomy 4: 4 +\u00a0 6 – 7: says, \u201cBut you who held fast to the Lord your God are alive today, every one of you. So keep and do them (God\u2019s commandments), for that is your wisdom and understanding in the sight of the peoples who will hear\u2026for what great nation is there that has a god so near to it as the Lord our God whenever we call on Him? \u00a0The Lord speaks in Deuteronomy 5: 29: saying, \u201cOh that they had such a heart in them, that they would fear Me, and keep all My commandments always, that it may be well (continual stability) with them and with their sons forever!\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Lord\u2019s Presence and Power as Creator of all was manifested in Genesis 1: 1: which says, \u201cIn the beginning God created the Heavens and the earth.\u201d His unchanging and ever abiding Word has stood the test of time as an Anchor for all, as is written in Psalm 119: 89: \u201cForever, O Lord, Thy Word is settled in Heaven.\u201d Myriads have testified to the Lord\u2019s faithfulness before we were ever born; as King David tells us, in Psalm 18: 2: \u201cThe Lord is my Rock and my Fortress and my Deliverer, my God, my Rock, in whom I take refuge; my Shield and the Horn of my Salvation, my Stronghold.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Jesus tells us in Matthew 24: 37: \u201cYou shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and foremost commandment. The second is like it, \u201cYou shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the prophets.\u201d Jesus lets us in on the one essential for all; to love the Lord and be pleasing in his Sight, by obeying His Will. John 14: 23 – 24: says, \u201cJesus answered and said to him, \u201cIf anyone loves Me, he will keep My Word; and My Father will love him, and we will come to him, and make our abode with him. He who does not love Me does not keep My Words; and the Word which you hear is not Mine, but the Father\u2019s Who sent Me.”<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Dearest Holy Lord Jesus: how we need your Holy Word, so that we may know Your Will, so that we may be pleasing to the Father Who sent You to us, for redemption from our own futile way of life. Come by Your Holy Spirit, and cleanse us from all self-efforts, and infuse within us Your Divine Fear of the Lord, and the Reverence Which You have toward our Heavenly Father, that we may be obedient with Your obedience.
