Psalm 18: 46 “The Lord lives, and blessed be my Rock; and exalted be the God of my Salvation.”

Giselle's Devotional, home-page, by Giselle.

If I were to give a personal assessment on any given topic, person or situation, I would first have to have a thorough understanding of these through much study and experiences; otherwise I would not be giving it, or anyone, their proper due. So it is with today’s reading; the Psalmist David gives us a complete and absolute affirmation of Who God is to him, by all the experiences which he has surmounted in his life. He declares that the Lord is alive and well; he blesses the Lord for being his impregnable Rock of Defense and Safety, and the Lord is lifted up in his life as his personal and only God, and He alone is his Savior in all facets of both his temporal and Eternal Life.

I would venture to say that God’s Word from Genesis to Revelations is also calling out to all from every century since creation, to have the same total commitment and passion toward Him, as we read from the Psalmist in today’s Scripture. In Genesis 3: 9: we read, “Then the Lord called out to the man, and said to him, “Where are you?” Genesis 4: 26b says, “Then men began to call upon the Name of the Lord.”

We hear one of the Lord’s compassionate calls in Jeremiah 3: 19: saying, “Then I said, “How I would set you among My sons, and give you a pleasant land, the most beautiful inheritance of the nations! And I said, “You shall call Me, My Father, and not turn away from following Me.” Jeremiah 29: 12 – 14a: says, “Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. And I will be found by you, declares the Lord, and I will restore your fortunes and gather you.” Jeremiah 33: 2 – 3: says, “Thus says the Lord Who made the earth, the Lord Who formed it to establish it, the Lord is His Name, “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” We know by these verses of the Lord’s incessant longing for fellowship with His own creation.

The Lord in His Love and Mercy provided a way for all to receive His tremendous gifts of restoration and Salvation. Hebrews 11: 6: says, “And without faith it is impossible to please Him (God), for he who comes to God  must first believe that He is, and that He is a Rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” Romans 10: 17 + 12b – 13: says, “Faith comes by hearing and hearing from the Word of Christ (Jesus). …For the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call upon Him; for “whoever will call upon the Name of the Lord will be saved.” Acts 4: 12: tells us, “And there is Salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under Heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved (by the Name of Jesus).”Hebrews 7: 25: tells us, “Hence, also, He (Jesus) is able to save forever those who draw near to God through Him (Jesus), since He (Jesus) always lives to make intercession for them (us).” Jesus says in John 6: 45: “It is written in the prophets, “And they shall all be taught of God.” Everyone who has heard and learned from (God) the Father comes to Me (Jesus).

Dearest Holy Lord Jesus: thank You so very much for the awesome privilege that we also can proclaim that You live, that you are our blessed Rock, and that You alone are exalted as the God of our Salvation. Thank you for the overwhelming gift of knowing that You ever live to intercede for us before the Father’s Throne of Grace. Come by Your Holy Spirit, and quicken many by and through Your Word, to assess the phenomenal testimonies of Your Presence, which can be theirs for the asking, as they call upon the Name of Jesus in spirit and in truth. Glory to You alone!
