One of the first Scriptures that really spoke to my heart is found in Isaiah 30: 15b. It was on a plaque given me by a friend when I was a very young Christian. It reads, “In returning and in rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength.”
It still fascinates me to this day, that when everything around the world seems to be in chaos, the secret of the Lord to His own remains to return to Him, and be quiet. Let everybody let out steam, and do whatever they might choose to do, if I continue to apply this Scripture in obedience to the Lord’s Wisdom, I know that the outcome is always Victory and Strength.
I often mention to my husband, that I do not know how anyone who does not have Jesus as their personal Savior today can possibly have peace. Only when I surrendered did I find the truth of continuing to return to the Lord, Who is the Source of all that anyone could possibly ever need.
Jeremiah 17: 7: says,” Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord and whose trust is the Lord.” Verse 8b says, “And it will not be anxious in a year of drought nor cease to yield fruit.” It can sometimes be very turbulent on sunny days, and very peaceful on cloudy ones. No matter what the circumstances may be, the fruit of the Holy Spirit consists of Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self-control. Galatians 5: 22 + 23.
We may know these attributes released within us, and on our behalf, as we return in child-like faith to the One and only Source from which we are able to draw them; Jesus. The saddest words missing from the plaque I was given are the last ones, from Isaiah 30: 15b: “And Ye would not.”
Dearest Holy Lord Jesus: thank You so much for watching over Your Holy Word to perform it on our behalf, as we place our trust in You. Jeremiah 1: 12b. Thank You as well, that Your Word will never return to You void (empty) without accomplishing what You desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which You sent it. Isaiah 55: 11. Because You conquered on our behalf, we can daily joyously draw living waters from the springs of Salvation. Isaiah 12: 3. Glory to You alone!
