It just fascinates me when I look back and see the faithfulness and purpose of God in my life, even in the most devastating situations. A verse comes to mind from the Book of Ecclesiastes 7: 13: which says, “Consider the work of God, for who can make straight what He has made crooked?” I marvel to see how God can transform a seemingly lost cause into an instrument of beauty, and restore life and blessings to anyone who would turn to him with all their heart.
In today’s verse, we have Job already knowing God, and daily offering sacrifice according to the number of each of his children, for fear they might sin. And the Lord permitted in His Sovereignty that he would be devastated in every which way. God had so much faith in him that He could already hear Job whisper in the distance, “but He knows the way I take; when He has tried me, I shall come forth as gold.” And, “though He slay me, I will hope in Him.” Job 23: 10: Job 13: 15a:
Dearest Lord Jesus: I could never presume to understand all the ways you have dealt with us, and especially with all that is happening all around the world. But this I do know, that You are faithful, and Your Sovereignty rules over all. Psalm 103: 19. Allow us today to enter once again into Your Sabbath rest that You have prepared for Your people. Hebrews 5: 9. I praise You for all that You have allowed to come our way, that You may also hear from our heart words which bring Honor and Glory to Your Name. Praise You Lord for this glorious day in which no purpose of Thine for our life could ever be thwarted or fail, as we place our trust in You. Glory to You alone!
