Isaiah 60: 1: “Arise, Shine; for your Light has come, and the Glory of the Lord has risen upon you.”

Giselle's Devotional, home-page, by Giselle.

What a glorious day! Jesus our Eternal Light and Salvation has risen and conquered over all. In verses 2 + 3, we read, “For behold darkness will cover the earth and deep darkness the peoples; but the Lord will rise upon you, and His Glory will appear upon you.” Though every light in the world go out into absolute darkness, the Lord guaranties that His Light and Glory will rise upon those who take refuge in Him.

Jesus says in John 8: 12: “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the Light of Life.”  Hebrews 12: 29: says, “For our God is a consuming Fire.” Isaiah 33: 14b – 15b: says, “Who among you can live with the consuming Fire? Who among us can live with continual burning? He who walks righteously, and speaks with sincerity, he who rejects unjust gain, shakes his hands so that they hold no bribe; he who stops his ears from hearing about bloodshed, and shuts his eyes from looking upon evil.”

Jesus says something very powerful in Matthew 6: 22 + 23: “The lamp of the body is the eye; if therefore your eye is clear (healthy), your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is your darkness.” What an awesome responsibility we have in determining the amount of light we actually walk in, by the choices we make, and the discipline, or lack of, we apply to our lives; and whether we have Jesus as Light within.

Dearest Holy Lord Jesus: thank you so very much for the gift of Your Holy Word which opens our eyes to the Fear of the Lord. Please forgive us, O Lord, for the familiarity of this age, especially with those of us who have known Your Love and Power. Quicken us by Your Holy Spirit today to be vigilant in our walk with You, and to be cautious in the things that pertain to Eternal Life.  2 Peter 1: 3: says, “Seeing that His Divine Power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own Glory and excellence.” Glory to You alone!
