If ever there was an example within God’s Word to the power of what one says, this is it. Psalm 89: 7 tells us, “A God greatly feared in the council of the holy ones, and awesome above all those who surround Him.” As a direct answer to turning his heart to understanding (acting wisely, justly), repentance before the Lord’s Majesty, and his fervent prayers, an angel is sent to reassure Daniel that his words were heard. In verse 2 it says, “…I, Daniel, had been mourning for three weeks.” Yet his words were heard the first day he began to pray. Sometimes there is a distance between the time we pay, and the time the Lord sends the answer.
Proverbs 15: 8b says, “The prayer of the upright is His (God’s) delight.” It is said that Daniel was a man of high esteem in the eyes of man and God, and yet he was almost overwhelmed by the delay to his prayers, and battle against him.
David speaks to us in 2 Samuel 22: 7 + 10b + 14b + 17 + 20, saying, “From His Temple He heard my voice, and my cry for Help came into His Ears…He came down…the Most High uttered His Voice…He sent from on High, He took me; He drew me out of many waters…He rescued me because He delighted in me.”
Psalm 34: 17 – 19 says, “The righteous cry and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous; but the Lord delivers him out of them all.” Proverbs 3: 5 – 6 says, “Trust in the lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
Proverbs 16: 1 says, “The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord.”
Psalm 27: 13 – 14 says, “I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong; let your heart take courage; yes, wait for the Lord.” Thank You Jesus for having seen Your great goodness!
In John 6: 37, Jesus promises to come in response to our words, as He says, “All that the Father gives Me shall come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out (I will never, no never reject anyone who comes to Me).
Dearest Holy Lord Jesus: thank You so very much that in Your Majesty on High, You hear clearly all those who cry out to you in spirit and in truth. Thank You that just as you prayed for Peter, that his faith should not fail; so You are constantly praying for each member of Your Body the Church. Come by Your Holy Spirit today, and encourage many not to give up because they have not seen the answers to their prayers. Release the mantle of worship over those who are discouraged, that they may begin to praise You in anticipation of all that You will do for them, as they place their entire trust in You. Glory to You alone!
