Psalm 84: 11 For the Lord God is a Sun and Shield; The Lord gives Grace (and favor) and Glory (honor and splendor); no good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly

Giselle's Devotional, home-page, by Giselle.

There are many of us who have gone through lengthy times of depending on the Lord’s Grace to see us through to the other side of the tunnel, so to speak. And during those trying times, did we cultivate our times of prayer and praise, and deepen our faith and trust in the Lord? Or did we trudge along all the way; counting every second till the trial was over? This above verse specifically says that the Lord is the One who gives Grace, and also the One Who gives Glory. When we get to the place of Glory and look back, is the time of Grace we came through tainted by lack of trustworthiness, unfaithfulness, or being displeasing to the Lord in any way?
2 Chronicles 16: 9: says, “For the Eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His.” What a Powerful Scripture! To think that the Creator of Heaven and earth is continually overseeing all the movements, words and deeds of men, to probe their loyalty towards Him. And then when He finds those who are true, He throws all the support of His Kingship behind them, not withholding any good thing that they might have need of.
Isaiah 66: 1a – 2: says, “Thus says the Lord, “Heaven is My Throne, and the earth is My Footstool. For My Hand made all these things, thus all these things came into being,” declares the Lord. “But to this one will I look (and have regard), to him who is humble and contrite of heart (of a broken spirit), and who trembles at My Word (and reveres My commandments).”

In this verse the Lord is also referred to as being our “Sun” Who enlightens us, and our “Shield” Who protects us. Psalm 118: 27: “The Lord is God, Who has shown and given us Light (He has illuminated us with Grace, freedom and joy); Bind the festival sacrifice (sacrifice of Joy and praise) to the Horns of the Altar (with thick cords).” This verse indeed suggests that we continually and fervently choose to stay close to the Lord and His ways. Psalm 18: 35: says, “Thou hast also given me the Shield of Thy Salvation, and Thy right Hand upholds me; and Thy gentleness (support) makes me great.”
Ephesians 1: 3: says, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the Heavenly Places in Christ Jesus.”
Dearest Holy Lord Jesus: thank You so very much for all the overwhelming blessings You bestow on those Whom You determine walk uprightly in Thy Sight. Come by Your Holy Spirit, and bring Your gift of repentance to all those whose heart may be hardened by the absence of Your Grace, that having their hearts truly broken and contrite before You, they may receive and enjoy Your Grace filled with Your Glory. Glory to You alone!
