Psalm 112: 1: “Praise the Lord! How blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man who fears (reveres and worships) the Lord, who greatly delights in His commandments.”

Giselle's Devotional, by Giselle.

This theme of the benefits and blessed state of a person’s choice to follow the Lord is seen throughout the Bible. Psalm 1: 3: says, “Blessed (happy, fortunate, and enviable) is the man who walks and lives not in the counsel of the ungodly (following their advice, their plans and purposes), nor stands (submissive and inactive) in the path where sinners walk, nor sits down (to relax and rest) where the scornful (and the mockers) gather. But his delight and desire are in the Law of the Lord, and on His Law (precepts, instructions, teachings of God,) he habitually meditates (studies) by day and night. And he shall be like a tree firmly planted (and tended) by the streams of water, ready to bring forth its fruit in season, its leaf shall not fade or wither; and everything he does shall prosper (and come to maturity).”

While the only true benefits anyone require from the Lord are His mercy and grace through repentance, resulting in Eternal Salvation, all the blessings of being an heir are then lavished upon us because of being part of God’s Kingdom.

Psalm 103: 2 – 5: says, “Bless (affectionately and gratefully praise) the Lord, O my soul, and forget none all His benefits- Who forgives (every one of) all your iniquities, Who heals (each one of) all your diseases, Who redeems your life from the pit and corruption, Who beautifies, dignifies, and crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercy; Who satisfies your years (your necessity and desire) with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagles (strong, overcoming, soaring).”

The question that would be to each of our heart is, after knowing that such extravagant showering of blessings are part and parcel of Salvation, through the mere gesture of true repentance, why would anyone ever choose to jeopardize receiving them?” But greater still is, why would anyone choose temporal earthly blessings, and momentary gratification, over eternal separation from God, because without Salvation there are no benefits that could ever matter?

Ephesians 1: 3 – 8a: says, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the Heavenly Places in Christ (Jesus), just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before Him. In love He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His Will, to the praise and Glory of His Grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved. In Him we have redemption through His Blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace, which He lavished upon us.”

Dearest Holy Lord Jesus: there are no words that could ever convey the gratitude that we should have for the extreme love that You have poured out upon us. Come by Your Holy Spirit, and draw many to a fervent desire to have Your mercy and grace upon their lives, through complete surrender to Your Lordship. Fill us afresh with Divine awareness of the unlimited, unfathomable riches we have in Jesus. Glory to You alone!
