The Psalmist declares that the vows (a solemn promise to perform an act, carry out an activity, or behave in a given way) of the Lord upon his life are binding (creating a legal or moral obligation to do something, with no possibility of withdrawal or avoidance). He confesses that the requirements and ways of the Lord are the only way to which he must adhere, and follow; and that the answer is giving thanks to the Lord in all things, even as a sacrifice of praise.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Psalm 118: 27 + 19 – 20: says, \u201cThe Lord is God, and He has (shown and) given us Light (He has illuminated us with grace, freedom, and joy); Bind the festival sacrifices (of joy and praise) with cords to the horns of the Altar. Open to me the gates of righteousness; I shall enter through them. \u201cI shall give thanks to the Lord.\u201d This is the Gate of the Lord; the righteous will enter through it.\u201d We know by these verses that there is no other way to the Lord but through the gates of righteousness, which is to praise and give thanks to His Name.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

As a young mom I tried desperately to make a pie crust to no avail, until I mentioned it to a wonderful lady who gave me the proper steps to a no-fail way of doing it. I have enjoyed the pleasure of phenomenal success in baking pies (which I rarely do) ever since, because I applied what she had first learned herself. In all things that we do for successful living there is a formula or a recipe; so it is with the Lord\u2019s ways of doing things. When one follows the proper given directions, the desired results, and so much more, soon follow through.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

There is a story in 1 Kings 12: 6 – 8 + 15: which gives us much wisdom for today\u2019s applications, which says, \u201cAnd king Rehoboam consulted with the elders who had served his father Solomon while he was still alive, saying, \u201cHow do you counsel me to answer this people? Then they spoke to him, saying, \u201cIf you will be a servant to this people today, and will serve them, grant them their petition, and speak good words to them, then they will be your servants forever. But he forsook the counsel of the elders <\/span>which they had given him, and consulted with the young men who grew up with him and served him. So the king did not listen to the people; for it was a turn of events from the Lord, that He might establish His Word, which the Lord spoke through Ahijah\u2026\u201d So we see that even when one does not adhere to the right counsel; the Lord\u2019s way and spoken word always prevail.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

All through the Scriptures we have an admonition from God\u2019s chosen people who have gone before us to give reverence, obedience, and thanksgiving to the Lord\u2019s ways for His right due. It has been my greatest privilege to have this same message passed down to my heart from God\u2019s Word, and to pass it on to everyone I possibly can, while I still have the time and the ability to do so. So many use their own recipes and wonder why things are not working out. \u201cOccupy yourself with praise;\u201d it works!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Dearest Holy Lord Jesus: thank You so very much for this Glorious new day of life, in which You have allowed us to live. You have indeed given us Light by Your Presence in our lives, and You have instilled Your praise to the Father within our hearts for all that He has ever done. Come by Your Holy Spirit, and activate in each of us the Power of Praise, which is the Place where You live. May You be greatly glorified through all those who step out in faith to begin their journey of praise to Your Holy Name! as “Praise” is a way of life!
