The Psalmist David keenly expresses his position as one who belongs to the Lord, especially in Psalm 18: 1 – 2: when he says, \u201cI love you fervently and devotedly, O Lord, my Strength. The Lord is my Rock, my Fortress, and my Deliverer; my God, my firm Strength in Whom I will trust and take refuge, my Shield and the Horn of my Salvation, my Stronghold (High Tower).” I don\u2019t think there is any room for debate as to where his allegiance lies, and so should it be for all who profess the Lord as their Savior.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Of David it is said in 1 Samuel 16: 18b: \u201che is a skillful musician, a mighty man of valor, a warrior, one prudent in speech, and a handsome man; and the Lord was with him.” 1 Samuel 18: 14 + 30b: says, \u201cAnd David prospered in all his ways for the Lord was with him\u2026David behaved himself more wisely than all the servants of Saul. So his name was highly esteemed.\u201d 1 Kings 15: 5: says, \u201cDavid did what was right in the Sight of the Lord, and had not turned aside from anything that He commanded him all the days of his life, except in the case of Uriah the Hittite (David had him killed). But above all else that was said of him, it is what the Lord has to say about a person that really matters. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

One may profess as many words of faith in the Lord as he may, but if he does not follow it up with faithfulness to the Lord, then his words fall short of true value. The prophet Samuel gives an astonishing insight into the Lord\u2019s choice of anointing David as King over Israel, when he says in 1 Samuel 13: 14b: \u201cThe Lord has sought out for Himself a man after His own heart, and the Lord has appointed him ruler over His people, because you (King Saul) have not kept what the Lord commanded you.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

1 Chronicles 29: 12: says, \u201cBoth riches and honor come from Thee, and Thou dost rule over all, and in Thy Hand is Power and might; and it lies in Thy Hand to make great, and to strengthen everyone.\u201d Psalm 103: 2 – 5: says, \u201cBless the Lord, O my soul, and forget none of His benefits; Who pardons all your iniquities; Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from the pit; Who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion; Who satisfies your years with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagles.\u201d 2 Corinthians 10: 17 – 18: says, “But let him who boasts, let him boast in the Lord. For not he who commends himself is approved, but whom the Lord commends.”<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Dearest Holy Lord Jesus: thank You so much for Your overwhelming benefits that you bestow on those who draw near to you with complete abandonment. Come by Your Holy Spirit, and mightily encourage those who have come to You after having known the depths of deception, from breaking Your Commandments. Come and fill us afresh today, that we might humbly continue to serve You in spirit and in truth for the remainder of our lives.
