This theme of the benefits and blessed state of a person’s choice to follow the Lord is seen throughout the Bible. Psalm 1: 3: says, “Blessed (happy, fortunate, and enviable) is the man who walks and lives not in the counsel of the ungodly (following their advice, their plans and purposes), nor stands (submissive and inactive) in the path where sinners walk, nor sits down (to relax and rest) where the scornful (and the mockers) gather. But his delight and desire are in the Law of the Lord, and on His Law (precepts, instructions, teachings of God,) he habitually meditates (studies) by day and night. And he shall be like a tree firmly planted (and tended) by the streams of water, ready to bring forth its fruit in season, its leaf shall not fade or wither; and everything he does shall prosper (and come to maturity).” While the only true benefits anyone require from the Lord are His mercy and grace through repentance, resulting in Eternal Salvation, all the blessings of being an heir are then lavished upon us because of being part of God’s Kingdom. Psalm 103: 2 – 5: says, “Bless (affectionately and gratefully praise) the Lord, O my soul, and forget none all His benefits- Who forgives (every one of) all your iniquities, Who heals (each one of) all your diseases, Who redeems your life from the pit and corruption, Who beautifies, dignifies, and crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercy; Who satisfies your years (your necessity and desire) with good things,…
