Here is David proclaiming Praise and declaring that the Lord lives. He declares this after the Lord has brought him victory over his enemies. You would think that when God anoints a person to be King such as David was, that he would have known bliss on earth. But from the moment David was anointed by the Prophet Samuel, he was hurled into a life of conflict like very few have ever known. His brothers disdained him, King Saul pursued him to kill him, he hid in caves, people mocked him, and would not acknowledge his anointing, and his own son rose up against him to destroy him. These are only samples of the things he had to overcome. What fortitude God gave him, to be able to continue in His strength. In all opposing forces which came against him, there is one common thread; all were defeated. Jesus says in Mark 13: 13, “And you shall be hated by all on account of My Name, but he who endures to the end, he shall be saved. We do not often want to think about the vengeance of God, because the world has a picture of a God that is always loving; all the time, for all the people. As I read more and more the word of God, it is plain to see that God’s Love and Mercy are there in abundance, but I would be remiss if I did not see the judgments and the vengeance of God, as well.
